Is there anybody out there who's willing to reboot this?

Hey guys, so for the past few days I've been thinking about the possibility of rebooting the development of this project and starting from scratch. I wouldn't be able to do programming since I have forgotten how to do anything inside of flash since I've focused on other things but I could help with business decisions and maybe work as a project director of some sort. It would probably be easier to get publicity now, than it was 4 years ago because of the growth of social media and there is a chance that we could use Kickstarter to maybe get funds for servers and what not. If there were enough people who were here from the beginning who were willing to tackle this, then I would be 100% on board to try this. Please respond to this and add me on Skype at matt.fregnan. EDIT (29/10/15): It's funny reading this almost a year later, the nostalgia of how cool things were took over the memories of our struggles trying to get this off the ground running, I don't think we'd be ready to handle the new playing field of MMO's and we'd have to result to horrible 'microtransactions' and considering I haven't touched anything technical in terms of computing since 2012, I'd only be able to help with ideas.

Everyone worked their asses off on this and it would've been incredible to see a tangible product, but it was still worth every moment we tried.

I entered this board for pure coincidence today, just for curiosity as me and Supportfth/Lucas have been discussing a bunch of things, ideas and since many years have passed we took a look back and asked ourselves if this kind of project would work under new conditions and if it would be work with the experience that many of us got today.

The most likely response would be of negation due to a big amount of considerations and conditionals that are present both on our professional and market views even if we were to took the Kickstarter branch as your proposed. I shall explain why though.

If everybody agreed on making a revival of this (which I believe most will respond with negation due to their personal life and goals) it would most likely have to take an experimental path instead of one that would involve money, although money itself is one of the most importation things when coming to the design of a concept like this one, specially if we were to consider the big costs that the production of it would evolve including (eventually) servers, domains, resources and commissions. The first reason of this is mostly because the genera of virtual world has since evolved and changed a lot, and the more CP-WV similar virtual worlds have since been decreasing and losing users and mostly taking a mobile path.

If we were to take a more modern path at the virtual world concept we would require even more resources than the previous and old concept including time, people and money, and although you present a Kickstarter option, the Kickstarter path tend not to be the most viable specially when it comes to PR (Public Relations) since it evolves a lot of managing, selling the hype, promising something good and sometimes it doesn't reach that kind of polish levels where people feel like their money has been correctly applied and although that is not part of our business to decide, it actually attracts negative thoughts, feelings and media to our project.

The things I have here been said are actually very reminiscent to another conversation about another possible reboot of another project and the arguments that I presented here are very similar to those I presented and my point on stating this is the fact that, since many years have passed since we once began the original concept if we were to reunion and think something new, it would most likely have to be something stripped down (by a lot), preconceived, and planned with the correct time, small documents and other types of studies.

This again is just my opinion and others might feel the need to say something different if by luck they stumble here again. I wonder how is everybody doing as I am currently studying Game Design itself and probably plan to go to the university to take something similar. I don't know if any of the others (other than Lucas) have any interest in joining the industry as well, but if they have, they will eventually reply as well.

Holy shit I cannot believe I remembered my password...  Yes it's me, Nike.  I was online and came across my original CP cheat site from back in 2008, which lead me to thinking about this great project so here I am now.  Last time I checked on it was when I messaged Matt on Facebook about the status, he told me everything and it was pretty heartbreaking.

It's crazy writing a message back on this board again with all of these great people that I remember.

Edit - October 23, 2015:  I hope someone happens to stumble here again like I did.  But if nobody does I just want it to go on record that I will cherish the times spent on Club Penguin, Club Waddles, and Waddle Village forever!

We're reaching the end of the year, everybody gets nostalgic at that point.

This old bulletin boards look so weird nowadays compared to new ones like Discourse. I wonder how everybody is doing nowadays. Like my previous post where I said I had enrolled with a Game Design Course, I recently enrolled in University for Game & Application Development. I'ts fun.

Hola guys! Even though the game never made it out, I don't regret a single minute I've spent here and all the great memories :')

I just finished school. I had my final exam on Monday for Media. I was sure 3 years ago that I would find a career in IT of some form or another, but discovered my passion for filmmaking. Hopefully I can get accepted into a good university next year, and hopefully move to Los Angeles and find success there (I'm all the way in Australia incase anybody forgot).

I'll post a link to the final film I made for school that took nearly 4 months of individual work to complete (other than the assistance of crew members (friends) on set). The video should be public, if not just send me a friend request.

There's an exhibition for the best student films in Year 12 in my state next year, and we find out if we're shortlisted within the next 2 weeks. Hopefully I have a chance, it's the thing I'm most proud of in my life. And to be honest, I think my high level of perfectionism and attention detail, and I suppose creativity spawned from my work in computing, which all came from wanting to help create something back from the original 'Club Waddles' days.

(Also, I still can't believe I was 13 when we did this and we fucking nailed it in terms of what we achieved. It truly blows my mind by what we did at such a young age.)

Hey 09op, I've checked out your film and I must say, you've done an awesome job. All the best for your future.

I'm currently studying to pursue a career in the IT field too. I've learnt a lot of programming languages and thinking of joining a university for a master's program in the UK or US after I finish my UG studies. I'll be done with my UG in two years.(I'm from India BTW)

Even though, this project never made it out, I learned a lot from it and just like 09op said, it really stirred up a lot of creativity in my mind.
