Hey dude! Quite a surprise to see someone post here after my last post almost 2 years ago. Wow what a ride, Club Penguin's shutting down. I would've thought that would've sparked a fuze for many others to come back but I suppose it's nothing but a distant memory for most of us. Crazy to think this place was once populated when 7 years ago.

Also sad to see a part of my childhood die off, Club Penguin had a pretty big impact on my life as a kid. I guess it's just a part of growing up.

Yeah, Waddle Village and Club Penguin were one of the biggest parts of my life when I was in school.
I still remember the time how the smartfox server for penguin chat wasn't working and we used team-viewer to get it to work. Old memories :')

Oh yeah Smartfox server... that was like the biggest challenge for a whole year when I was trying to get it up and running. And Teamviewer! I haven't used that in so long.

Hey! Glad to see some activity on this place again! For a while I thought the last thread would be the last glimmer of life around here, but it's nice to be proven otherwise. It almost feels weird to be witting a comment in one of these old BB-post editors, especially when pretty much every single forum these days uses Discourse. Worth the throwback at least.

I was also disappointed to know that Club Penguin was closing off, but it was something I inevitably expected to happen. There's only so much you can milk from a social flash game after ten whole years. It's the type of game and genera that keeps replacing itself over time and I'm pretty sure that there are great social games out there like Club Penguin nowadays running on much better engines and therefor attracting a whole new demographic.

What a ride life as been since we left off from this project. Don't know if I made it clear after my last post here but I actually got into programming about three years ago now, and have been doing small games ever since. You really realize of how hard most of the things we were trying to do as children/teenagers and though was easy were, and how scaling when it comes to gamedev is something really hard to define.

A few weeks ago I actually meet supportfth (kind of weird writing is name like that nowadays) in person during a trip he made to Portugal and one of the things we talked about was exactly how this whole thing came to be. I wonder what the rest of the guys are up to nowadays, since I actually tried to find some trace of them a few weeks ago as well but results came up empty.

I'm assuming this forum will only have the very rare post from now on (I'll check a few times more frequently now that there's some activity) so if you guys want to keep up, my current twitter is over @JorgeGameDev and my Discord Username is Polite Whale | JorgeGameDev#7491 (I only occasionally use Skype nowadays). Hit me up if you guys want to create a channel for old times sake someday.

But overall, nice to speak to you guys again! Great to see some of you still get nostalgia about this project sometimes. What else have you guys been up too? What else do you guys have to share? Anyone knows more about the others?

I'd point out that the source code for the final version of WV is available here: https://github.com/zesme/waddle-village. I remember having booted it up a year or two after we ceased development and getting a some people back for one last round of playing. The game should still work (apart from the fact that Flash is pretty much dead now, especially AS 2.0), so if anyone wants to get it up, be my guest.

I can't believe we all decide to come online on the same day. It's nice to see all of you again.

Just noticed there are six users online at this moment. That has to be a new record since 2012 at this point. Either a very nice coincidence or the forum just started spewing notifications again.

I should definitely try and clone Zes's repository for the game and see if I can boot it up one of these days (the hardest part will be finding a working version of Flash with AS2 nowadays). I'll give it a shot whenever I'm not terribly busy.

I have added him on Discord as well (for some reason I didn't have him until now?) so if anyone else has an account there, drop it off. It would be nice for us to talk somewhere without having a delay gap of two years in-between. (These emotes look out of place with everything else these days).

Wow! That's great to see all you guys again, I would keep checking this place every couple of weeks for over a year for any form of activity and there was nothing until Rory opened this thread up.
